Algeria has marked a significant milestone in its digital infrastructure with 2.5 million households now connected to fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) services, Algeria
The achievement represents a major step forward in the country’s efforts to expand high-speed internet access nationwide.
“This progress reflects our commitment to providing internet speeds of up to 1.5 gigabits per second, ensuring that Algerians across all regions can benefit from modern digital services,” the company stated.
The latest figures indicate a rapid increase in adoption, following the 2.2 million households connected as of June 2025, according to the Ministry of Post and Telecommunications. The 300,000 new connections achieved in less than three months highlight growing demand for high-speed internet and the effectiveness of Algeria Telecom’s expansion strategy.
In recent weeks, the operator launched a series of new FTTH service packages designed to meet the needs of a diverse customer base, including regular subscribers, online gamers, and small to medium-sized enterprises. These packages offer improved streaming speeds and competitive pricing, aiming to make high-speed internet more accessible across the country.
The expansion of the fiber network is part of Algeria’s broader digital transformation plan, which seeks to enhance connectivity, boost economic growth, and support the development of digital services in education, healthcare, and commerce.
Experts note that access to reliable high-speed internet is critical for fostering innovation and enabling Algerians to participate in the global digital economy. With 2.5 million households now online, Algeria is positioning itself as a regional leader in digital infrastructure.
Algeria Telecom confirmed that work continues to connect additional households, with the long-term goal of making fiber optic internet available to the majority of the population. The ongoing rollout is expected to further reduce digital disparities and support the growth of online services throughout the country.
