From 4 to 10 September 2025, the Algerian capital is set to become the epicenter of African trade with the 4th Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF), an event that transcends a traditional economic gathering and signals Algeria’s growing continental ambition.
Under the leadership of the Algerian Embassy in Guinea and coordinated with Guinean economic operators and other stakeholders, preparations for the fair have been described as a “projection and observation work,” reflecting a careful assessment of Africa’s shifting economic priorities and logistical challenges.
“This event goes far beyond a simple trade fair. It is a strategic opportunity to consolidate Algeria’s position in the African economic landscape and to project a renewed image of its productive potential,” said organizers, emphasizing the fair’s role in fostering intra-African cooperation and advancing the objectives of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
The IATF 2025 aims to provide a platform for trade promotion, economic diversification, and regional integration, with a focus on translating political commitments into tangible economic benefits. Algeria is leveraging its historical Pan-African stance to position itself as a hub for sustainable economic growth, building on its tradition of supporting continental solidarity and cooperation since independence.
President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has consistently promoted a vision of African self-reliance, advocating for active economic partnerships, mutual support, and internal growth driven by intra-African trade. “Putting all means in line with the country’s African ambition” has become the guiding principle behind Algeria’s logistical, administrative, and strategic preparations for the IATF, including transport, financing, customs, accommodation, tourism, and communication strategies.
The fair also serves as a symbolic reaffirmation of Algeria’s commitment to Pan-Africanism, connecting its historical legacy of struggle and resistance to contemporary economic aspirations. According to experts, IATF 2025 could become a pivotal moment for promoting trade within a market valued at over $3 trillion, enhancing Algeria’s position as a strategic crossroads for continental development.
Notable attendees include political leaders, business representatives, and international economic experts, with former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo highlighting the fair as a landmark for fostering cooperation and reciprocity across Africa.
As Algiers prepares to host this major continental gathering, Algeria seeks not only to showcase its economic capabilities but also to translate its vision of a shared, sustainable African future into concrete action. The IATF 2025 promises to be a defining event in Africa’s ongoing journey toward economic integration and self-sufficiency.
