Algeria marks 63 years of national police service with tribute to fallen officers

Algeria has commemorated the 63rd anniversary of the founding of its national police force in a solemn ceremony led by Director General of National Security, Ali Badaoui.
During the event held on Tuesday at the headquarters of the General Directorate of National Security, Badaoui laid a wreath at the “Wall of Loyalty” memorial. Joined by senior security officials, he paid tribute to the martyrs who lost their lives in the line of duty, reaffirming the force’s enduring commitment to national service and sacrifice.
The commemoration was held under the theme: “Pride in Belonging, Professionalism in Performance… Loyalty to the Martyrs’ Legacy.
“ The slogan reflects the institution’s guiding values as it continues to modernize and uphold public safety while honoring those who laid the foundation of its mission.
The anniversary comes at a time when Algeria’s police service is undergoing significant transformation aimed at enhancing professionalism, public trust, and operational efficiency. Badaoui emphasized the importance of remembering the sacrifices of past generations while striving to build a forward-looking and responsive security apparatus.
The “Wall of Loyalty” has become a central symbol in the force’s annual commemorations, serving as a reminder of the lives given in defense of peace and public order throughout Algeria’s history.
As the country reflects on more than six decades of policing, the ceremony reinforced the central role played by the national police in safeguarding Algeria’s sovereignty, supporting state institutions, and maintaining civil harmony.
The 63rd anniversary not only honored the memory of fallen officers but also celebrated the enduring legacy and evolving professionalism of Algeria’s law enforcement institutions.
