Algeria has officially launched the first training camp for its under-16 national football team, marking a new chapter in the country’s youth football development.

The preparatory camp began on Wednesday at the Sidi Moussa Technical Center, bringing together 31 young talents selected from various clubs and divisions across the country.

The players were chosen following a rigorous screening process conducted over several weeks by head coach Karim Ziani.

“This is a significant moment for Algerian football,” said Ziani.

“Our focus is on nurturing young talent, instilling discipline, and preparing these players for future challenges at both national and international levels.”

On Wednesday evening, the squad held its inaugural training session, engaging in drills designed to build technical skills, tactical awareness, and team cohesion.

The camp, scheduled to run until next Monday, will combine on-field training with classroom sessions covering strategy, nutrition, and sports psychology.

The creation of an under-16 national team reflects Algeria’s broader strategy to strengthen its football development pipeline and ensure a continuous flow of skilled players into the under-17, under-20, and senior national teams.

Analysts suggest that early investment in youth training is crucial for maintaining the country’s competitive edge in regional and international competitions.

Coach Ziani emphasized that the camp is not only about identifying talent but also about fostering character and resilience among young players.
