Despite ongoing restrictions on its mining permits, AGB2A-GIC is maintaining a firm commitment to social responsibility by deepening its engagement with local communities in Tormelin, Fria prefecture.
On Saturday, 27 July, representatives of AGB2A-GIC, accompanied by partners including SINOHYDRO, visited the sub-prefecture to distribute protective gear such as umbrellas, rain boots, and waterproof jackets.
The initiative aimed not only to address immediate needs during the rainy season but also to reinforce the company’s continued presence and long-term commitment—particularly regarding operations on the AXIS permit, which it has leased since 2021.
The event, held at Tormelin’s Youth Centre, gathered key stakeholders, including the Prefect of Fria, Colonel Alpha Oumar Cissé, local authorities, and community leaders from Woyenkhôry, Tanéné, Khôto, Balandougou, and Kaléma in the Doumboukoussy district—an area directly impacted by mining activities.
In his remarks, Prefect Cissé praised the initiative for its symbolic and practical value.
“This support demonstrates AGB2A-GIC’s continued commitment despite current restrictions. On behalf of the authorities, we extend our gratitude for these tangible actions,” he stated.
In addition to material assistance, the company announced plans to assist with civic education efforts. At the request of local authorities, AGB2A-GIC has pledged to help disseminate information on Guinea’s new Constitution by training local facilitators to carry its message into remote and underserved communities.
For residents, the outreach serves as a reaffirmation of partnership and solidarity during a period of industrial slowdown. The company’s focus on proximity, listening, and inclusive development continues to foster trust—even as broader regulatory uncertainties remain
