Egypt’s Naval Forces welcomed a delegation from the Turkish Naval Academy on Tuesday, marking a significant step forward in bolstering military cooperation between the two nations. The visit took place at the Alexandria Naval Base and featured the Turkish landing ship TCG SANCAKTAR (L-403), which docked carrying both faculty members and cadets from the academy.
The Turkish delegation was received as part of the Egyptian Armed Forces’ ongoing commitment to fostering strategic partnerships with allied and friendly countries, especially in the field of naval training and defense cooperation.
Vice Admiral Mahmoud Adel Fawzy, Commander of the Egyptian Navy, met with Professor Kemaleddin Şahin, Dean of the Turkish Naval Academy, to discuss avenues for deepening bilateral military collaboration.
“We greatly appreciate the Turkish Naval Academy’s visit to Naval Headquarters,” said Vice Admiral Fawzy.
“It highlights the importance of strengthening cooperation in training and exchanging expertise between the cadets of both the Egyptian and Turkish naval academies.”
Professor Şahin expressed his gratitude for the warm reception, emphasizing the value of the visit in enriching the academic and professional development of Turkish naval officers and cadets.
“We are honoured by the hospitality of the Egyptian Navy,” he noted.
“This visit plays a crucial role in enhancing the skills and knowledge of our cadets across various fields of naval military science.”
Beyond the formal meetings, the Turkish cadets explored several of Egypt’s most iconic landmarks. Their itinerary included cultural visits to the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, the historic Citadel of Qaitbay, the Pyramids of Giza, and the Grand Egyptian Museum, reflecting the broader diplomatic and cultural dimensions of the exchange.
The visit stands as a clear signal of growing military diplomacy and mutual respect between Cairo and Ankara.
