Egypt condemns Israeli sovereignty law over West Bank as blatant violation of international law

The Egyptian General Federation of Trade Unions (EFTU) has strongly condemned the recent move by the Israeli Knesset to approve a draft law imposing Israeli sovereignty over the occupied West Bank.

The federation described the legislation as a clear breach of international legitimacy, United Nations resolutions, and a flagrant disregard for the historical and legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.

In a statement released on July 27, the EFTU expressed deep concern over what it called an escalating step by Israeli authorities.

“This step is an attempt to undermine any prospect for a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue,” the federation said, further accusing the Israeli government of pursuing expansionist policies that violate both international law and Security Council directives.

Highlighting the resilience of the Palestinian people, the EFTU stressed that “the Palestinian people will remain steadfast in defending their land and national identity,” adding that “these unjust decisions will not diminish their resolve and determination to achieve their freedom and establish their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.”

The federation urged the international community, as well as labor and human rights organizations, to act swiftly to condemn and halt these violations. It also called on Arab and international trade unions to show effective solidarity with the Palestinian people by rejecting what it described as “aggressive practices.”

Finally, the EFTU voiced support for all efforts aimed at protecting the rights of the Palestinian people, emphasizing the urgency of coordinated global action in response to the recent legislative move.

The draft law’s approval by the Israeli Knesset marks a significant escalation in tensions surrounding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, drawing widespread criticism across the Arab world and international community. The Egyptian trade union’s statement underscores the ongoing resistance and international calls for justice amid an increasingly volatile political landscape.
