Guinea Unites Under the shadow of mount loura to shape a new constitutional future

In the heart of the prefecture of Mali, nestled at the foot of the iconic Mount Loura, Guinea took a significant step towards its constitutional future.
On Thursday, 24 July 2025, a high-level government delegation led by Mory Condé, Minister of Urban Planning, Housing, and Land Development — also tasked with reclaiming state-confiscated lands — continued its national outreach tour aimed at engaging citizens in the shaping of a new Constitution.
The mission forms part of an inclusive process designed to bring the country’s foundational legal text closer to the people and ensure collective ownership of the changes that lie ahead.
Grassroots Engagement and Open Dialogue
The gathering brought together regional administrators, local elected officials, youth and women’s associations, religious leaders, civil society actors, and private sector representatives. The focus was dialogue — fostering discussion on the purpose, content, and vision of the draft Constitution.
Souleymane Thiâ’nguel Bah, Secretary-General at the Ministry of Information and Communication and a native of Mali, underscored the government’s commitment to the region.
He praised the community’s active participation in the national civil registration drive (RAVEC) and called on citizens to embrace the proposed constitutional innovations.
A People’s Project Born from the Nation’s Will
Addressing attendees, Minister Mory Condé highlighted the key phases leading to the draft Constitution — from the inclusive national consultations following the events of 5 September 2021 to the meticulous work of the National Transitional Council (CNT).
“This text is the fruit of what you, the citizens of Guinea, have expressed. Your concerns have been heard. That’s why this Constitution resembles you and unites you,” he stated.
Condé explained that the new draft is structured around three central pillars for reimagined governance:
-
Social Axis – Aiming to restore and strengthen national cohesion and solidarity across all segments of society.
-
Economic Axis – Pursuing sustainable socio-economic development as a cornerstone for sovereignty and public well-being.
-
Political Axis – Aspiring to build a lawful state underpinned by credible institutions and a justice system serving all citizens.
A Nation Rewriting Its Destiny
“In a true spirit of renewal, the Guinean nation is coming together to write a new page in its history. This constitutional project reflects our shared values, the richness of our diversity, and the collective will to build a united and prosperous nation,” declared Mory Condé.
The event in Mali marks a pivotal moment in Guinea’s democratic journey — a reminder that the road to lasting reform begins with the people.
