The “foureul” style is characterised by the elegance of vintage balls, featuring long evening gowns, puffed hairstyles, flared trousers, and brightly embroidered boubous. Young Senegalese men and women, many born long after these eras, have flooded TikTok and Instagram with videos where they mimic festive scenes and traditional dances, dressed like their grandparents. This trend reflects an affectionate nod to an era seen as joyful, refined, and deeply woven into the country’s social fabric.
