The commune of Adjamé, located in northern Abidjan, has inaugurated its first-ever cultural celebration, the Adjamé Cultural Festival (FESCAD), with education at the heart of its mission to drive local growth and development.
Opening on Friday, 24 July, in Williamsville, the three-day event runs until 27 July under the theme “Education, a vector of growth for Adjamé.” The festival brings together artists, entrepreneurs, educators, and residents to showcase the cultural richness of the area while fostering opportunities for young people.
Bamba Zah, President of the festival’s organising committee, said the focus on education reflects a shared vision for the community’s future. “It is impossible to build a prosperous future without investing massively in the education, training, integration and emancipation of young people,” he told attendees.
Co-organiser Jérôme Biti said FESCAD was designed not only to celebrate culture but to stimulate growth through opportunities for internships, scholarships, and employment. He described the festival as a “unique opportunity for investors and local communities to build B2B relationships, create impactful networking, and engage in concrete exchanges between young people and businesses.”
Festival Commissioner Fousséni Konaté said the event was created to showcase Adjamé’s identity and talent. “This festival is a great celebration and a space for awakening, opportunities, and the celebration of talent,” he said, calling on artists, entrepreneurs, and the wider public to take part.
Patron of the inaugural edition, Adjamé’s deputy mayor Soumahoro Farikou, said the event aimed to unify the community, especially as Côte d’Ivoire approaches its presidential elections. “Culture must be a lever for social cohesion, peace, and unity,” he said, encouraging residents to embrace the event with “joy, respect and shared experiences.”
The festival includes a major fair of local products, conferences, training workshops, and live performances by artists including Affou Keita, Yodé & Siro, Roseline Layo, Abou Nidal, DJ Kerozen, Ismaël Isaac, and others.
By blending culture with education and entrepreneurship, FESCAD seeks to become a platform for inspiration, skills development, and empowerment for Adjamé’s youth.
