In a significant move to bolster Gabon’s oil industry expertise, the Ministry of Oil and Gas and the French Petroleum Training Institute (IFP Training) signed a strategic framework agreement on July 24, 2025.
The ceremony was held in Libreville and witnessed by the French Ambassador to Gabon, underscoring the deepening cooperation between the two nations.
The agreement aims to deliver targeted training programmes designed to enhance the capabilities of professionals working across the oil sector — from introductory courses to highly specialised technical roles. This initiative reflects Gabon’s commitment to developing local talent to meet the evolving demands of its crucial energy industry.
Prior to the signing, Minister of Oil and Gas, Mr. NGUEMA NGUEMA, held talks with the French Ambassador to discuss the sector’s strategic trajectory under his leadership. They also explored the potential for reinforced Franco-Gabonese collaboration in oil and gas.
France, represented by well-established industry operators with a longstanding presence in Gabon, seeks through this partnership to support the transformation of the nation’s energy landscape. The collaboration is set to address key strategic challenges while fostering sustainable growth in a sector vital to Gabon’s economy.
By empowering Gabonese executives with advanced skills, the initiative hopes to accelerate innovation and self-sufficiency in the oil sector. The partnership marks a promising chapter in Franco-Gabonese relations, signalling mutual commitment to shared economic progress amid a rapidly changing energy environment.
