The Higher Institute of Rural Development of Tshibashi (ISDR-T) in Kananga has sworn in its new student coordination committee, with Blaise Pascal Baluishi assuming leadership after securing 95.45% of the vote in a decisive election.
The official inauguration ceremony, held on July 25, 2025, at the RTNC campus of ISDR-T, brought together academic and administrative leaders, alongside students, to witness the handover of responsibility to the new 22-member committee.
The body has been entrusted with full authority to oversee and represent student interests throughout its one-year mandate.
In his inaugural address, Baluishi expressed deep gratitude for the confidence placed in him and pledged to make his leadership “a church in the middle of the village,” committed to mediating between student concerns and the institution’s governing bodies.
He outlined his vision of fostering open dialogue, collaboration, and unity across the academic community, ensuring students remain central to institutional decision-making.
The Director General of ISDR-T, Father Thobias Kuzeza Kababa, commended Baluishi and the newly appointed members, urging them to embrace active and constructive cooperation. He highlighted the pivotal role of student coordination in the context of the Bachelor-Master-Doctorate (LMD) academic framework, where students are placed at the heart of the learning process.
Father Kuzeza further reminded the committee of its mandate, clarifying that the coordination is not designed to function as a pressure group or a countervailing authority, but rather as a vital channel to convey student expectations while upholding institutional integrity.
With legal and regulatory recognition secured under Congolese law, Baluishi and his team now face the task of delivering on their commitments, aiming to strengthen dialogue, improve student engagement, and build a cohesive bridge between the student body and the administration during their tenure.
