Gabon’s Ministry of Oil and Gas has signed a strategic framework agreement with the French Petroleum Training Institute (IFP Training) to enhance the technical expertise of professionals working in the country’s vital oil and gas sector.
The accord was formalized on July 24, 2025, at a ceremony attended by the French Ambassador to Gabon.
The partnership is designed to deliver a range of training programs tailored to the industry’s needs, from introductory courses for entry-level staff to specialized sessions for technical and managerial positions.
Officials say the initiative will play a crucial role in strengthening local capacities within one of Gabon’s most important economic sectors.
Ahead of the agreement’s signing, Gabon’s Minister of Oil and Gas, Nguema Nguema, held talks with the French Ambassador to review the sector’s strategic outlook since the minister assumed office.
The discussions also focused on reinforcing Franco-Gabonese cooperation in energy, with both parties reaffirming their shared commitment to advancing the industry’s transformation.
France remains a prominent partner in Gabon’s energy landscape, represented by established companies and institutions invested in the nation’s rapidly evolving oil economy.
Through this collaboration, IFP Training will deliver targeted programs aimed at helping Gabon tackle the sector’s strategic challenges, including skills development, technological advancement, and sustainable growth.
Officials highlighted that the agreement represents a significant step toward aligning Gabon’s workforce with global standards, ensuring that local professionals are well-equipped to meet the demands of a competitive and fast-changing industry.
The initiative is expected to bolster both employment opportunities for Gabonese nationals and the sector’s overall contribution to the country’s economic development.
