iger marked the second anniversary of the National Council for the Safeguarding of the Homeland (CNSP) assuming power.
In a nationwide address, Army General Abdourahamane Tiani, President of the Republic and Head of State, delivered a message filled with determination, realism, and hope, reflecting on the tumultuous but resolute journey of the past two years.
General Tiani emphasised the significant challenges Niger has faced since the CNSP took charge, particularly highlighting relentless external interference.
“The path to full sovereignty is not without pitfalls,” he remarked, pointing to repeated attempts by adversaries to destabilise the nation through terrorist attacks, economic manipulation, political pressure, and disinformation campaigns.
Despite these trials, the President underscored the resilience and unity of the Nigerien people.
“Niger remains united and committed, resisting international pressure thanks to the determination and resilience of its people,” he said, urging vigilance against divisive narratives aimed at undermining national cohesion and patriotic spirit.
On the progress front, General Tiani highlighted the establishment of key institutions as envisioned in the Refoundation Charter adopted in March 2025, including the Court of State, the Court of Auditors, and the Refoundation Advisory Council.
“These concrete achievements mark a clear break with the past,” he affirmed, pointing to a new republic built on the legitimate aspirations of Nigeriens.
A major success noted was in food sovereignty. Thanks to coordinated efforts across agriculture and rural development, Niger avoided a lean season this year. The President praised the irrigation policies and collective solidarity that contributed to this vital achievement, demonstrating the country’s ability to overcome historical economic and food challenges.
General Tiani also expressed gratitude to contributors to the Solidarity Fund for the Safeguarding of the Homeland, describing it as a symbol of Niger’s potential when united in purpose.
Concluding his address, the President appealed to all Nigeriens to intensify their commitment to work, stating, “This is the only effective way to escape poverty and ensure sustainable development.” In the spirit of modesty, he announced that commemorations would be limited to Quran readings and prayers, seeking divine blessings for the nation.
As Niger reflects on two years under the CNSP, General Tiani’s message is clear: the country is on a path of regained dignity, affirmed sovereignty, and a future shaped by its own people.
