Algerian parliament passes 84 Laws since 2021, reflecting president tebboune’s reform Agenda

Algeria’s Minister of Relations with Parliament, Kaouthar Krikou, announced on Thursday that the country’s legislative body has adopted 84 new laws since the beginning of the current parliamentary term in 2021, affirming President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s commitment to institutional reform.
Speaking during the closing ceremony of the 2024–2025 ordinary parliamentary session in Algiers, Minister Krikou stated, “The drafting of over 15 legislative texts during the 2024–2025 parliamentary session alone is a tangible embodiment of President Tebboune’s institutional reform commitments.”
She emphasized that these 84 pieces of legislation are not merely procedural achievements but are designed to enrich Algeria’s legal framework in line with the aspirations of its people.
“This legislative activity reflects, on the ground, the reform trajectory set in motion since President Tebboune assumed office,” Krikou said.
The minister also praised the functional synergy between the executive and legislative branches, highlighting their shared responsiveness to the concerns of citizens.
“There is a functional complementarity between the government and the two chambers of Parliament in effectively addressing public concerns through various legislative and oversight mechanisms.
This is in line ith the principle of listening and responding to the pressing needs of society,” she noted.
Krikou further pointed out the vital role of her ministry in coordinating among state institutions, saying, “The Ministry of Relations with Parliament has closely supported this process through continuous cooperation and coordination during all parliamentary sessions related to this effort, as a reflection of participatory democracy and the inclusion of all stakeholders in public governance.”
She reaffirmed her ministry’s commitment to strengthening institutional coordination in the service of the public good and concluded by commending the Parliament for its sense of responsibility and dedication during what she described as a particularly active and productive legislative session.
