Egyptian universities shine at formula student UK 2025, securing top global ranks

Egypt’s Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Ayman Ashour, has praised the outstanding participation of Egyptian universities in the 2025 edition of the Formula Student UK competition, held annually in England.
This year’s participation, he said, reflects Egypt’s ongoing commitment to innovation, applied education, and skill development among university students.
Dr. Ashour highlighted the long-standing contribution of Ain Shams University’s Faculty of Engineering team, which has competed in the event since 2012. He noted their consistent top-tier performance, including a first-place finish two years ago, and a repeat of that achievement in the most recent edition held just days ago. “The team is a model of excellence and continuity in performance,” he said.
This year, several universities represented Egypt on the international stage, including Ain Shams, Helwan, Menoufia, Tanta, Zagazig, and Assiut. Dr. Ashour emphasized that participation in such global educational events is a strategic goal for Egyptian universities, aiming to immerse students in high-level experiential learning.
“Egypt’s presence was not just about participation—it was influential, with teams securing top positions among global competitors,” he stressed.
Among the most notable accomplishments was Helwan University’s Faculty of Technology and Education team placing second out of 42 international universities in the “Cost and Manufacturing” category for electric vehicles—Design Phase—followed by Ain Shams University in third.
In the “Track Simulation” category, Menoufia University secured second place, with Helwan following in third. Menoufia also ranked second in the “Business Plan” design phase.
In overall design rankings, Ain Shams placed third, with Helwan’s Faculty of Technology and Education in fourth. In the autonomous vehicle category, Ain Shams claimed fifth overall and first in a subcategory.
“These results are a genuine achievement that reflect the creativity of Egyptian students and their ability to compete globally, despite limited resources,” said Dr. Ashour. He reiterated the ministry’s dedication to modernizing higher education and creating a supportive environment for innovation and excellence.
