Gabon’s Minister of Communication, Paul-Marie Gondjout, has arrived in Côte d’Ivoire seeking to learn from the country’s pioneering experience in digital terrestrial television (DTT).
The visit, taking place in Abidjan on July 21, 2025, marks a significant step towards strengthening cooperation between the two West African nations in media and communications.
During a meeting with his Ivorian counterpart, Minister of Communication and government spokesperson Amadou Coulibaly, Gondjout expressed his admiration for the progress Ivory coast has made in deploying DTT nationwide.
“I wish to build on Ivorian achievements to drive the implementation of digital terrestrial television in Gabon,” he said, praising the quality of discussions and the warm reception he received.
Coulibaly welcomed Gabon’s interest as a strong endorsement of Côte d’Ivoire’s efforts. “We are honored by Gabon’s recognition of our experience and reaffirm our commitment to sharing national expertise with our sister country,” he stated.
Beyond digital television, the two ministers explored opportunities for broader collaboration aimed at modernizing radio and television broadcasting services. Their discussions underscored a mutual desire to promote experience-sharing and initiate joint projects that can advance media infrastructure in both countries.
This mission fits within a broader framework of deepening bilateral ties, reflecting a shared ambition to build a sustainable partnership grounded in technical cooperation and knowledge exchange.
As Côte d’Ivoire continues to position itself as a regional leader in digital media innovation, Gabon’s delegation hopes to leverage this expertise to accelerate its own transition to digital broadcasting. The visit highlights the growing trend among African nations to collaborate on technological development, enhancing regional integration and capacity building.
The successful deployment of DTT in Côte d’Ivoire serves as a model for other countries eager to modernize their media landscapes, signaling a new chapter of cooperation that could reshape broadcasting across the continent.
