Djibouti’s President, Ismail Omar Guelleh, has extended heartfelt congratulations to King Philippe of Belgium as the European nation prepares to mark its National Day.
In a message sent to the Belgian monarch, President Guelleh conveyed his “wishes for health and happiness” to King Philippe, adding that both the people and government of Djibouti stood with him in expressing their goodwill to the Belgian nation on this occasion.
“Your country is all the more entitled to celebrate its National Day with splendour and grandeur as it has long served as a successful model of development,” President Guelleh wrote, praising Belgium’s achievements as a nation.
The Djiboutian leader went on to highlight Belgium’s enduring reputation as an example for other states, particularly for its ability to foster “peaceful coexistence, complementarity, and fraternity among diverse demographic, linguistic, and cultural communities.”
President Guelleh also reaffirmed Djibouti’s commitment to deepening its already strong bilateral ties with Belgium, describing the relationship as one of “privileged friendship and cooperation.” He assured King Philippe of his dedication to strengthening this partnership further in the years ahead.
The message concluded with President Guelleh reiterating his “warm congratulations” to the Belgian monarch and to the people of Belgium, underscoring the shared bonds of friendship between the two nations as Belgium prepares for its national celebrations.
The note of goodwill reflects Djibouti’s ongoing diplomatic engagement with Belgium, a partnership that has seen the two nations collaborate in areas of economic development, cultural exchange, and international cooperation.
