Egypt’s national elections authority unveils final list of senate candidates ahead of august vote

The National Elections Authority (NEA), chaired by Counselor Hazem Badawi, has officially released the final list of candidates set to contest Egypt’s upcoming Senate elections.
According to the announcement made on Friday, July 18, the elections will be conducted for Egyptians living abroad on August 1 and 2, while voters inside Egypt will cast their ballots on August 4 and 5.
In a coordinated effort across the country, electoral oversight committees from the 27 primary courts of Egypt’s governorates revealed the confirmed candidate lists.
These lists were displayed prominently outside the courts after the NEA was formally notified, following the conclusion of all electoral appeals reviewed by the State Council.
“The electoral monitoring committees at the 27 primary courts across the country’s governorates announced the final list of candidates running in the elections on Friday afternoon,” the Authority stated.
With the final slate of candidates now confirmed, the official campaigning period has commenced. It will run until the end of July, after which a mandatory campaign silence period will take effect.
During this time, all electoral campaigning will be strictly prohibited in accordance with election law.
In addition, the NEA has declared Sunday as the final day for candidates to withdraw their candidacies. Any withdrawal requests submitted beyond that deadline will not be accepted under any circumstances.
This latest development signals the beginning of an intense campaign period that will shape the future of Egypt’s upper parliamentary chamber.
As the race intensifies, candidates will be vying to secure public support in what is expected to be a closely watched electoral process both domestically and abroad.
