In a heartfelt expression of gratitude, the Voluntary Return Committee for Sudanese Refugees has lauded Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and the Egyptian people for their steadfast support and hospitality during Sudan’s ongoing crisis.
“Egypt has not neglected us,” said Amina Abdullah, head of the committee, during a phone interview with journalist Mostafa Bakry on the Facts and Secrets programme, aired on Sada El Balad TV.
“We were happy that when we left our homelands, we found another homeland that would accommodate and contain us,” she continued.
With emotion resonating in her voice, Abdullah praised Egypt’s warm reception and ongoing assistance to displaced Sudanese.
“Egypt is unlike any other country.
Beloved Egypt, beautiful Egypt.
Egypt did not fall short with us and was supportive. Thank you to Egypt and the Egyptian people.”
She went on to explain that the committee began registering Sudanese nationals three months ago to facilitate a coordinated voluntary return effort.
Acknowledging the Egyptian government’s backing, she said, “I extend my thanks to Lieutenant General Kamel Al-Wazir for providing logistical support to complete the voluntary return of the Sudanese community.”
Journalist Mostafa Bakry also confirmed the progress of the return operation.
“A train carrying Sudanese siblings will depart next Monday to return home,” he said, noting the efforts of Lieutenant General Kamel Al-Wazir in enabling the operation and responding to the wishes of Sudanese citizens in Egypt.
Bakry emphasized the deep bonds between the two nations, stating, “We and our Sudanese brothers are one blood.
We share common principles and constants, as part of the efforts being made with the Sudanese community in Egypt.”
The gesture marks another chapter in the historic relationship between Egypt and Sudan, reflecting decades of cooperation, cultural kinship, and mutual solidarity in times of crisis.
