In a solemn gesture of respect and solidarity, Dr Abdoulaye Sabre Fadoul, Chadian Minister of State and Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Integration and Chadians Abroad, visited the Nigerian Embassy in N’Djamena on July 16, 2025, to express condolences following the death of former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari.
Dr Fadoul was warmly received by Abdulkhadir Ibrahim Ghani, Chargé d’Affaires at the embassy, alongside embassy staff.
Speaking at the visit, the minister described Buhari as “a son and distinguished statesman” whose passing marked a significant loss not only for Nigeria but for the African continent and Chad.
“With the passing of President Muhammadu Buhari, Nigeria loses a son and a distinguished statesman; Africa loses a wise man with a kind heart; and Chad a caring brother,” Dr Fadoul stated.
“President Muhammadu Buhari is no longer part of this world physically, but his memories and his good deeds will forever remain in the memory of Chadians.”
The minister conveyed condolences on behalf of Chad’s President Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, the government, and the people, extending sympathies to Buhari’s family, the Nigerian government, and the Nigerian people. “They can be proud of the legacy left by General Muhammadu Buhari in history,” he said.
In a moving conclusion, Dr Fadoul offered a prayer: “I pray to Almighty Allah to welcome the late Buhari into his paradise ALFIRDOZ. Amen!”
The visit included the recitation of a “Fatiha,” a Muslim prayer for the deceased, reinforcing the solemnity of the occasion and cultural respect.
This heartfelt tribute not only comforted Nigerian embassy staff in a period of mourning but also reaffirmed the enduring bonds of friendship and brotherhood between Chad and Nigeria.
