In a landmark move aimed at enhancing the country’s veterinary and livestock capabilities, Egypt’s Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, through its Animal Health Research Institute, has signed a cooperation protocol with the General Syndicate of Veterinarians.
The agreement marks a significant step toward developing the skills of veterinarians and strengthening Egypt’s broader animal health system.
The initiative is in line with directives from Alaa Farouk, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, who has emphasized the need to upgrade the sector’s human capital to meet national and international standards.
The cooperation protocol sets out a joint framework for specialized training, diagnostics, research, and the application of cutting-edge technologies across various veterinary fields.
As part of the agreement, accredited training programs will be offered to graduates and practicing veterinarians, with a particular focus on improving their technical and scientific competencies. Participants will receive internationally recognized certifications, enhancing their competitiveness both locally and abroad.
“The goal is to ensure that Egyptian veterinarians are equipped with the knowledge and skills to meet today’s challenges in food safety, zoonotic disease prevention, and environmental health,” stated the Director of the Animal Health Research Institute.
During the signing ceremony, the leadership of both institutions toured the institute’s advanced laboratories to assess the infrastructure and explore avenues for deeper collaboration in areas such as disease diagnostics, research innovation, and practical training.
The training programs will include instruction on the latest laboratory techniques and global best practices in food safety and quality, reflecting Egypt’s commitment to the “One Health” approach—an integrated effort to balance and optimize the health of people, animals, and the environment.
The head of the Veterinary Syndicate echoed the institute director’s optimism, expressing enthusiasm for continued cooperation. “This protocol represents a strategic investment in our country’s veterinary future,” he said.
With the agreement now in effect, both sides are hopeful that this collaboration will create a ripple effect, improving public health outcomes and advancing Egypt’s goal of achieving sustainable food security.
