In a decisive move to guarantee uninterrupted essential services amid planned power outages, Engineer Ayman Attia, Governor of Qalyubia, convened a comprehensive coordination meeting on Monday with key figures from service sectors, security forces, and electricity providers.
The gathering brought together prominent officials, including Deputy Governor Dr. Iman Rayyan, Secretary General Major General Ihab Serag El-Din, and Dr. Hazem Mohamed Ibrahim, Head of the Central Administration for the Governor’s Office Affairs. Leaders from the electricity sector were also present, notably Eng. Khaled Masoud Ghamry, Chairman of the South Delta Electricity Distribution Company, and Eng. Mona Rizk, Chairperson of the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company.
Security officials played a vital role in ensuring readiness and oversight at critical infrastructure sites throughout the governorate during the maintenance period.
A key focus was the uninterrupted power supply to vital facilities, particularly hospitals. Dr. Osama Al-Shalqani, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Qalyubia, joined hospital directors from university, government, and specialized medical centers in Banha to emphasize the importance of continuity in healthcare services.
“The need to take all technical and logistical measures to provide alternative energy sources was emphasized, ensuring that power supply remains uninterrupted during any maintenance work that may occur, thus ensuring the continuity of medical services without disruption,” the meeting concluded.
Other critical facilities such as drinking water and sewage treatment plants, alongside railway authority sites—including train signal systems and ticket offices—were also prioritized to maintain operational safety and service delivery to the public.
Governor Attia ordered close cooperation with the electricity companies to pinpoint outage locations accurately and mandated transparent communication through official websites and social media channels to keep citizens informed.
He further requested an annual maintenance schedule from the electricity transmission company to allow proactive planning by government bodies.
In preparation for outages, the governor directed the installation of backup transformers for essential facilities well in advance and the formation of a technical committee to rigorously inspect hospital generators. These generators must be capable of running efficiently for a minimum of six continuous hours to safeguard healthcare delivery.
This initiative underscores Qalyubia Governorate’s commitment to maintaining safe, reliable public services and swiftly addressing any challenges arising from scheduled maintenance work.
