In a renewed effort to uplift the most vulnerable, Egypt’s Al-Orman Charity Association has completed the reconstruction of 19 homes for underprivileged families in the village of Abdel Azim, located in the Senores district of Fayoum Governorate. The initiative comes under the direct supervision of the Directorate of Social Solidarity in Fayoum, headed by Dr. Sherine Fathy.
“The directorate is keen to continue its cooperation with civil society organizations in supporting the presidential initiative Decent Life, launched by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, to provide safe housing and better living conditions for the most disadvantaged groups and to ease the burdens on the shoulders of ordinary citizens in various villages,” said the Social Solidarity Undersecretary.
She praised Al-Orman’s pivotal role in society and its humanitarian initiatives that have brought joy to struggling families, stating that such partnerships reflect the spirit of solidarity and social cohesion that underpins Egyptian society.
Major General Mamdouh Shaaban, Director General of Al-Orman Association, detailed the scope of the reconstruction efforts, noting, “The process included plastering, painting, carpentry installation, roof covering, plumbing works, access to clean drinking water, floor tiling with ceramic, and full electrical wiring to ensure a safe and dignified living environment for the beneficiary families.”
He highlighted that Al-Orman’s rural housing project has been ongoing for several years, successfully reaching over 850 villages across Egypt. “We aim to double this number in the coming period, thanks to the support of our partners, volunteers, and donors from various sectors,” Shaaban added.
Since the inception of its housing program, Al-Orman has rebuilt more than 38,000 homes across the country, as part of its broader mission to improve living standards for Egypt’s poorest and most marginalized communities.
