The president of the Benkadi women’s cooperative in Sépikaha, located in the sub-prefecture of Niédiékaha, Niakara department, has reported a positive assessment of the organization’s development over the past three years.
Speaking to AIP on Saturday, July 12, 2025, Maryam Coulibaly shared her deep satisfaction with the cooperative’s progress, highlighting its financial resilience and collective spirit.
“I am proud of the vitality and resilience of our cooperative,” Coulibaly said, underlining the impact of unity and responsible management among members. She recalled that on February 22, 2021, following the conclusion of the 2021 campaign, the cooperative opened a savings account with an initial balance of 502,250 FCFA.
Driven by strong internal governance and committed member participation, Benkadi has significantly strengthened its financial position.
Focused on both food crop and market gardening production, the cooperative is made up entirely of women working to improve their livelihoods and community welfare through agriculture.
“As of our third General Assembly, held on June 1, 2025, the financial report covering the period from 2021 to 2024 showed a cash balance of 1,615,000 FCFA,” Coulibaly told the assembly members.
She used the occasion to commend the collective efforts that led to this achievement and called on all women in Sépikaha to get involved. “I encourage you to continue this dynamic and remain committed.
It is essential that all women of Sépikaha take part in the life of the cooperative,” she added.
Established in December 2018, the Benkadi cooperative currently comprises 91 women, each having contributed a share of 10,000 FCFA. Their active roles in rice farming and gardening have become a vital economic force in the Hambol region.
