Senegalese midfielder Idrissa Gana Gueye has signed a contract extension with Everton, securing his stay at the club until June 2026, with an option to extend for an additional year.
The announcement was made by the English Premier League side on Monday, July 7.
At 34 years old, Gueye is the most-capped player in Senegal’s history and recently concluded a strong 2024/25 campaign with Everton.
Having first joined the club in 2016 and returning after a three-year stint at Paris Saint-Germain, the midfielder expressed his deep connection to the club, saying, “Everton is more than a club to me; it’s a part of my life.”
Everton manager David Moyes played a crucial role in securing Gueye’s commitment, valuing the veteran’s leadership and experience.
Moyes views Gueye as a key figure to guide the squad through an important transitional phase, including the move to the new Hill Dickinson Stadium.
The Senegalese star is also expected to mentor the club’s younger midfield talents, helping to build a strong foundation for the future.
Everton finished 13th in the Premier League last season but hope to leverage Gueye’s consistency and professionalism to raise their ambitions for the 2025-26 campaign.
The club’s leadership believes that his presence will provide stability and inspiration as they aim for improved performances in a competitive league.
Gueye’s decision to extend his contract underlines his enduring loyalty and the mutual respect between the player and the club.
As Everton prepares for a new chapter on and off the pitch, the midfielder’s experience is set to be a cornerstone in their journey ahead.
