In a significant move to enhance public service delivery, the Tonkpi Regional Council has distributed a wide range of educational, medical, and logistical equipment to institutions across the region. The handover took place on Friday, July 4, 2025, in Man, during the council’s third ordinary session.
The initiative, spearheaded by Council President Albert Mabri, aims to reinforce the operational capacity of schools, health centres, and administrative services, with a particular focus on education and healthcare.
“This is a first step,” said Mr. Mabri during the presentation. “School and health are the council’s priority, representing more than 80% of the council’s budget. The capacity building of services will continue whenever we can.”
The educational sector received a notable boost, with 1,000 desks and benches distributed to primary and secondary schools.
The full program aims to deliver 2,500 sets, allocated based on identified needs within each department.
Additionally, 27 secondary schools have been equipped with administrative furniture to support principals, bursars, supervisors, and teaching staff.
Healthcare facilities also saw critical improvements. Several health centres were provided with biomedical equipment, including incubators for general hospitals.
This support is intended to improve maternal and neonatal care and strengthen the region’s healthcare infrastructure.
To address local mobility and support economic activities, particularly for women’s groups, around forty tricycles were distributed. “We are very happy about all these tricycles made available to the women of Tonkpi.
This will allow us to work with ease,” said Oulaï Olga, president of the RHDP women of Man sub-prefecture. She also praised the strides made in education, electricity, and clean water access in surrounding villages.
In a further move to strengthen institutional effectiveness, six vehicles were assigned to the council’s technical and financial services to support the monitoring of ongoing regional investments.
The session concluded with the announcement of the forthcoming resumption of construction on the council’s new headquarters, marked by a symbolic groundbreaking ceremony.
The comprehensive handover underscores the council’s ongoing commitment to local development and aligns with broader national efforts to improve living standards through targeted investments in key sectors.
