Kenya’s president Ruto to headline UK-Africa forum with vision for sustainable growth

Kenyan President William Ruto will deliver the keynote address at The Africa Debate 2025, the flagship forum of the UK Pan-African Investment Summit, scheduled for 2 July in London.
The announcement signals a pivotal moment in this year’s dialogue on how Africa can strategically harness its natural capital for sustainable and inclusive development.
Held under the theme “Harnessing Natural Capital for Growth,” the forum will convene global investors, business leaders, and policymakers to explore Africa’s potential in driving industrialization, renewable energy development, and regional value chain integration.
President Ruto, internationally recognized for championing sustainability, clean energy, and industrial transformation, is expected to outline a bold vision for leveraging the continent’s mineral wealth, biodiversity, and renewable energy resources.
His opening remarks will frame a day of high-level discussions aimed at translating Africa’s natural endowments into long-term competitiveness on the global stage.
Kenya’s rapid strides in geothermal, solar, and wind energy, coupled with its expanding value-added manufacturing sector, have positioned the country as a model for green economic transformation in Africa.
The President’s address will underscore these achievements, highlighting Kenya’s role as a regional innovation hub.
Now in its 11th year, The Africa Debate has grown into a premier platform for bridging UK-African business interests.
This year’s agenda reflects growing urgency around climate adaptation, digital disruption, and supply chain resilience—issues that place Africa’s resources at the center of global economic recalibration.
The forum will question how African nations can move beyond raw extraction to anchor high-value production locally, preventing the historical marginalization from the wealth their resources generate.
Other notable speakers at the forum include Lungisa Fuzile of Standard Bank Group, Saïd Ibrahimi of the Casablanca Finance City Authority, Tsitsi Masiyiwa of the Higherlife Foundation, IMF Africa Director Abebe Aemro Selassie, and Wale Tinubu, CEO of Oando Plc.
The Africa panel will be moderated by Sameh Shenouda, CEO and Chief Investment Officer of the Africa Finance Corporation.
As global markets reshape around sustainability and resilience, President Ruto’s presence at the forum is expected to amplify Africa’s call for equitable and climate-smart economic transformation.
