Accor set to launch first Zimbabwean hotel with Novotel victoria falls opening in 2028

French hospitality giant Accor has officially entered Zimbabwe’s tourism market, announcing plans to open its first property in the country: the Novotel Victoria Falls.
The milestone deal was unveiled at the Future Hospitality Summit Africa held recently in South Africa.
“This signing represents a decisive step forward in our development strategy in sub-Saharan Africa,” said Maya Ziade, Accor Group’s Director of Development for the region.
She described Victoria Falls as “one of the most extraordinary destinations in the world,” expressing pride in bringing the Novotel brand to Zimbabwe for the first time.
The group envisions the project as “a gateway to long-term sustainable growth in the country.”
Slated to open in 2028, the Novotel Victoria Falls will offer 111 rooms in the prestigious residential neighborhood of Eagle Heights, overlooking the scenic Masuwe River.
The property will feature an outdoor swimming pool, a kids’ club, and an all-day dining restaurant designed to blend modern comfort with authentic local experiences.
Bevin Ngara, Managing Director of Eagle Asset Managers—the project’s local partner—highlighted the significance of the collaboration: “This partnership with Accor will bring an international standard of hospitality to Victoria Falls.
It reflects our vision of investing in transformative projects that boost tourism and bring value to local communities and investors.”
This announcement comes as Zimbabwe’s tourism sector recovers and grows, particularly around Victoria Falls, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known locally as Mosi-oa-Tunya, or “The Smoke That Thunders.”
Renowned globally as one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, the falls attract millions with diverse activities ranging from sightseeing to rafting, bungee jumping, and helicopter tours.
With more than 590 Novotel hotels worldwide, Accor’s arrival is part of a broader African expansion strategy.
The group’s entry is expected to elevate Zimbabwe’s hospitality landscape, enhance visitor experiences, and stimulate the local economy.
