Afro nation 2025 takes global stage with star-studded African lineup in Portugal

Afro Nation, the world’s biggest celebration of African music and culture, is set to mark its fifth anniversary with a landmark edition in Algarve, Portugal, from July 9 to 11.
For the first time in its history, the festival is expanding its global footprint, promising an electrifying three-day experience that will fuse the continent’s musical heartbeat with a world-class coastal celebration.
With a mission to elevate African creativity to international audiences, Afro Nation 2025 is more than just a music festival—it is a vibrant display of African excellence across sound, fashion, food, and art.
Organisers have announced a dazzling lineup of top-tier African performers who will share the stage with global stars, igniting what promises to be one of the most unforgettable cultural events of the year.
Leading the African charge is Burna Boy, the Nigerian Afro-fusion sensation. Nicknamed the “African Giant,” Burna Boy returns for his third Afro Nation appearance.
With Grammy nominations and a historic 2021 win for Twice As Tall, his music continues to shape the global soundscape of Afrobeats.
His performance will be a central highlight of the festival’s milestone year.
Also joining the roster is Tems, the soulful Nigerian singer-songwriter whose global ascent has included chart-topping collaborations with Wizkid, Drake, and Future.
Her distinct blend of R&B and Afrobeat has earned her critical acclaim and a dedicated international following.
Afrobeats megastar Davido is also set to grace the stage. Known for global hits like Fall, FEM, and Unavailable, his presence adds unmatched energy and star power.
With over a decade of hits, Davido’s performance promises to be a high-octane celebration of African rhythm.
Another fan favourite, Wizkid, will deliver his signature Afrobeat and R&B fusion.
From his breakout hit Holla at Your Boy to the global anthem Essence, Wizkid remains a defining figure in the genre and a festival favourite whose set is already one of the most anticipated.
Flying the flag for South Africa is DJ Uncle Waffles, the breakout queen of Amapiano.
With her viral dance moves, high-energy sets, and magnetic presence, she has captivated audiences from Coachella to Afro Nation.
As one of the genre’s most prominent female DJs, she brings a bold and fearless sound that continues to push boundaries.
This year’s festival goes beyond music.
Attendees can look forward to immersive cultural experiences, fashion showcases, culinary delights, art installations, and vibrant beach parties—turning the Algarve into a celebration of African identity and innovation.
Afro Nation 2025 isn’t just a festival. It’s a global statement: Africa’s sound, style, and spirit are taking centre stage, and the world is dancing along.
