El Malick Ndiaye has been elected as the new president of Senegal’s National Assembly during the inaugural session of the country’s 15th legislature.
Ndiaye secured 134 votes out of 165 from the parliament’s deputies on Monday, December 2.
The vote saw 22 deputies opposing his candidacy, while seven abstained.
