Italy to recruit 500 moroccan mechatronics workers amid labour shortages

Employment authorities in Italy’s Veneto region have announced plans to recruit 500 skilled workers from Morocco specializing in mechatronics.
The recruitment drive, part of the EU-funded “Tham Plus” project, aims to address a critical labor shortage in Veneto and other parts of Italy, according to a statement accessed by Hespress.
“Tham Plus” is an initiative led by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), focusing on improving job mobility from North Africa to Italy.
As Italy faces significant challenges in filling skilled positions, this program offers Italian companies the chance to hire qualified workers from abroad, helping bridge the gap in the local workforce.
The project includes pre-departure training, offering selected Moroccan workers vocational and language courses in their home country before they begin employment in Italy.
Regional Councillor Valeria Mantovan, responsible for education, employment, training, and equal opportunities in Veneto, expressed optimism about the program.
“This project will promote legal migration from Morocco, focusing on workforce skill development in the mechatronics sector to meet the needs of local businesses,” Mantovan stated.
The program is expected to strengthen professional migration ties between Italy and Morocco while supporting Italian companies in hiring qualified labor to meet production needs effectively.
