The National Employment and Training Observatory (Onef) convened its 17th regular board meeting on Tuesday, October 5, 2024, chaired by the Minister of National Entrepreneurship, Employment, and Professional Training, Mme Bagayoko Aminata Traoré.
The proposed 2025 activity budget stands at 1,652,863,000 CFA francs, marking an 8.2% increase over the 2024 budget estimate.
According to Mme Traoré, these funds will be sourced from the government and financial partners.
Onef plays a critical role by consistently producing employment and training indicators that help evaluate progress in implementing policies and programs aimed at reducing unemployment, underemployment, and poverty across the country.
Reflecting on the year’s achievements, Boubacar Diallo, Director-General of Onef, highlighted a successful track record, stating, “We had a positive balance; we managed to accomplish a significant portion of our activities.”
Diallo noted that as of December 31, 2024, the implementation rate of planned activities was approximately 92%, attributing this success to the dedicated efforts of Onef personnel.
Among Onef’s key accomplishments was a study on the integration and employability of graduates in economics and management—fields with higher unemployment rates. The observatory also launched a digital library accessible through its official website.
Looking forward, Diallo expressed optimism for 2025, citing the modest increase in the budget as a promising indicator of continued progress in the observatory’s mission.
