
Spain swept the titles at the FIP Silver-Nhood Open de Padel in Abidjan, asserting their dominance in both the men’s and women’s competitions.
The tournament, which ran from September 29 to October 5, 2025, is part of the official calendar of the International Padel Federation (FIP) and was organised under the auspices of the Ivorian Tennis Federation (FIT) with support from the General Directorate of Sports.
The week-long event attracted athletes from Europe, Africa, and Latin America, offering the Ivorian public a display of high-level sporting skill, technical precision, and fair play.
The finals featured all-Spanish matchups, highlighting the country’s continued leadership in the sport.
In the women’s final, Laura Lujan Rodriguez and Letizia Manquillo Alarza overcame their compatriots Aitana Garcia Roman and Aida Fernandez Gonzalez in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2.
The pair showcased perfect cohesion, mental resilience, and tactical consistency, neutralizing every attempt at a comeback from their opponents.
After the match, Lujan Rodriguez said, “Our success was based on our ability to adapt to the playing conditions and remain focused at key moments.”
Manquillo added, praising the “exceptional atmosphere” created by the Ivorian crowd and the organisation of the tournament, which she described as “worthy of the greatest international competitions.”
The men’s final saw Luis Oliver Artigas and Fran Ramirez Navas defeat Boris Garcia Castro and Rodrigo Coello Manso 7-6, 6-4.
From the outset, the champions dictated the pace, capitalizing on their opponents’ errors and demonstrating surgical precision in decisive points.
Oliver Artigas described the victory as “a real boost for our world ranking” and expressed appreciation for competing on Ivorian soil, commending the energy of the Abidjan crowd.
Tournament promoter Fayza Hojeij welcomed the event’s success, expressing gratitude to the FIT, partners, sponsors, and volunteers.
“We are proud to have taken on this challenge.
This tournament has demonstrated Côte d’Ivoire’s potential to host major international sporting events. We hope that this FIP will mark the beginning of a great padel story in our country,” she said.
The winners each received 480,000 FCFA, while the runners-up were awarded 240,000 FCFA, capping a week of top-tier competition and international sporting celebration in Abidjan.
