Burkina Faso’s President, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, has emphasized that the country’s wealth must benefit all citizens, warning against political practices that divide the nation.
In an interview broadcast on national television on Sunday evening, the head of state reflected on his three years in office, stressing that “everyone must benefit from the advantages of Burkina Faso’s nature and the work of the government.”
He highlighted the need for inclusive policies that ensure no group is privileged over others.
Captain Traoré criticized past political approaches, noting that previous leadership often created divisions and granted specific advantages to certain groups, leaving many Burkinabe excluded from national progress. “Anyone who changes their mentality is welcome on board.
But if you want to continue operating like the old politics, you have no place in the revolution,” he cautioned.
The president’s remarks come amid ongoing efforts to strengthen governance and promote social and economic reforms aimed at greater equity. He underlined that his administration seeks to cultivate a sense of shared responsibility and participation among all citizens, encouraging those willing to embrace the government’s vision to contribute positively to the nation’s development.
Observers say the message reflects a broader push by the Traoré government to consolidate its revolutionary agenda while addressing long-standing inequalities. By highlighting the importance of unity and equitable distribution of resources, the president is seeking to reinforce citizen engagement and build trust in public institutions.
The interview also served as a moment for the president to acknowledge the changes among citizens who have embraced the reforms, while reiterating that Burkina Faso’s political and economic future depends on collective cooperation and a break from exclusionary practices of the past.
