In Daoukro, 252 of the 311 beneficiaries of phase three of the C2D Youth Employment Project were briefed on the proper use of the funding they received during a session held on September 22, 2025, at the Henri Konan Bédié Cultural Center in Ouellé, Iffou region.
Traoré Adam-Kolia, president of the Iffou Regional Council, urged the young participants to “seize this opportunity and deserve the trust placed in them” by managing the resources professionally and repaying the funds to maintain the cycle of mutual aid.
He highlighted the presence of a dedicated project team responsible for supervision, monitoring, and evaluation of the beneficiaries’ activities.
The participants are engaged in a variety of initiatives.
Among them, 27 beneficiaries received funding for Income Generating Activities (IGA), ranging from 300,000 to 500,000 FCFA. Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) received between 500,000 and 1.5 million FCFA, while 100 participants involved in Labour-Intensive Works (THIMO) are compensated at 2,500 FCFA per day.
Additionally, 125 members of Associations for the Promotion of Community Mutual Aid (AVEC) are allocated 2 million FCFA each.
Prefect Soro Sana congratulated the young people for their commitment and encouraged them to “give up easy money and to build themselves with a view to personal development in order to achieve the objectives of the project.”
He emphasised that the initiative represents a concrete opportunity for young Ivorians to benefit from state and partner support while contributing to local economic development.
Launched in November 2023, the C2D Youth Employment Project is a collaborative effort between the Ivorian government, the French Development Agency (AFD), and regional councils, designed to strengthen youth employability and expand economic opportunities.
In the Iffou region, phase three targets 1,078 young people aged 18 to 40, drawn from a total of 5,832 applicants. The previous phase benefited 839 participants, illustrating the programme’s growing reach and impact in supporting youth entrepreneurship and community development across the region.
