The commune of Daoukro is preparing to launch a Strategic Local Development Plan (PSDL) aimed at guiding its future growth and development.
The initiative was presented to residents during a workshop held on September 20, 2025, at the Andoh Kouadio Jean Cultural Center, attended by representatives from all 32 villages within the commune.
Kouadio Mélaine, director of studies at the National Committee for Remote Sensing and Geographic Information (CNTIG), explained the next steps for the project. “The village committees, within two weeks, must meet to determine their needs, opinions and aspirations for the development of the commune of Daoukro,” he said.
Following this initial consultation, CNTIG agents will convene further meetings to prioritise the community’s needs using focus groups, interviews, and surveys.
The collected information will then be submitted to the town hall to draft an initial planning document outlining proposed projects across the commune.
The PSDL is designed to provide a structured framework for local development, addressing infrastructure, social services, and economic growth in a coordinated manner.
It reflects a growing emphasis on participatory planning, where communities play a central role in shaping their future.
Since its creation in September 1992, CNTIG has overseen the development of similar strategic plans for several Ivorian localities, including Agnibilékro, Abengourou, Anyama, Bingerville, and Marcory.
Plans for M’Bengué, Dabakala, Grand Zatry, and Worofla are currently underway, demonstrating the committee’s ongoing commitment to supporting local governance and development.
The Daoukro PSDL marks a significant step for the commune, aiming to align the aspirations of its residents with practical, implementable strategies. Authorities and citizens alike are optimistic that the plan will help identify priorities, mobilise resources, and create a roadmap for sustainable development in the years ahead.
