Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates, Badr Abdelatty, has reiterated Cairo’s firm support for Yemen’s unity, independence, and territorial integrity, highlighting the country’s solidarity with the legitimate government under the Presidential Leadership Council.
Speaking on Monday during a meeting with Yemeni Foreign Minister Shayea Mohsen Al-Zindani on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York, Abdelatty stressed that Yemen’s stability is critical for regional and Red Sea security.
According to a statement from Egypt’s Foreign Ministry, Abdelatty emphasised that a comprehensive political solution is the only viable way to resolve the ongoing Yemeni crisis.
“There is no military solution to the Yemeni conflict,” he said, calling on all Yemeni factions to unite and develop a national vision for a political process that ends the suffering of the Yemeni people while fulfilling their aspirations for security, stability, and development.
The Egyptian minister also highlighted Cairo’s ongoing support for Yemen, noting the provision of medical and humanitarian aid, as well as hosting Yemeni citizens and offering essential services.
This assistance is part of Egypt’s broader efforts to foster regional stability and promote constructive dialogue among Yemeni stakeholders.
Abdelatty’s remarks came as international attention remains focused on the humanitarian and political situation in Yemen, where years of conflict have left millions in need of aid and a comprehensive peace settlement remains elusive.
By reaffirming its support for the Yemeni government and a political resolution, Egypt positions itself as a key regional actor advocating for dialogue, cooperation, and a sustainable solution to one of the Middle East’s most pressing crises.
The meeting with Minister Al-Zindani underlines ongoing diplomatic efforts to coordinate international support for Yemen, ensuring that humanitarian relief, political dialogue, and long-term reconstruction efforts remain aligned with the aspirations of the Yemeni people.
