In Guinea, Prime Minister Amadou Oury Bah is set to address the nation on Wednesday regarding the provisional results of the constitutional referendum held on 21 September 2025.
The announcement was made by the Prime Minister’s office, which confirmed that the briefing will take place at the Palais de la Colombe, though the exact time has not been disclosed.
The press briefing follows the official declaration of the preliminary outcome of the vote, which saw widespread participation across the country. According to authorities, the referendum recorded a voter turnout of 86.42%, signalling a high level of engagement from the electorate.
The provisional results indicate overwhelming support for the draft new constitution, with 89.38% of voters approving the changes and 10.62% opposing them. The Prime Minister is expected to outline the government’s position on these results, providing clarity on the next steps in the constitutional transition process.
“The Prime Minister, Head of Government, Amadou Oury Bah, will hold a press briefing this Wednesday at the Palais de la Colombe,” the Prime Minister’s office stated, emphasising the importance of communicating official government perspectives directly to the public.
The referendum, which has been a central component of Guinea’s political transition, proposes significant constitutional reforms. While the provisional results suggest broad approval, the final results are awaited to confirm the outcome officially. Analysts have noted that the vote represents a critical stage in Guinea’s efforts to stabilise its political framework and reinforce democratic processes.
Observers will closely watch the Prime Minister’s address for indications of how the government plans to implement the new constitution and manage the political implications of the referendum outcome. With a turnout exceeding 85%, the vote underscores strong citizen engagement in shaping the country’s constitutional and political future.
