Algeria inspects education sector with series of high-profile inaugurations in Sidi Bel Abbes

Algeria’s Minister of National Education, Dr. Mohamed Seghir Saadaoui, conducted a comprehensive inspection of the education sector in Sidi Bel Abbes on Tuesday, highlighting the government’s commitment to improving schooling conditions and supporting students’ academic, health, and social needs.
During his visit, Dr. Saadaoui inaugurated the regional mathematics high school in the Sakia El Hamra district, named after the legendary mathematician Al-Khwarizmi.
The institution will serve 118 elite students from the western region, with a focus on preparing them for higher education and participation in national and international competitions, including the Mathematics Olympiad.
“It is essential to ensure optimal care for students and enhance their educational level,” the Minister said.
The Minister also inaugurated the historic Ibn Sina Elementary School, which was entirely rebuilt to reflect the style and architectural design of the original institution, preserving its historical significance while modernizing its facilities.
Additionally, he opened the Class 6 middle school in the 3,200-housing district, named after martyr Bouregba Kadour, part of a wider effort to bring educational institutions closer to communities.
Dr. Saadaoui emphasized the importance of equipping schools with modern pedagogical, scientific, and technological resources, alongside providing students with health and psychological care.
He also inaugurated the annex of the Higher Teacher Training School, underlining the need to develop highly skilled educators and maintain rigorous academic standards for incoming students.
“Students admitted to Higher Teacher Training Schools must achieve high grades on their baccalaureate exams,” he stated, stressing full coordination between the Ministry of National Education and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
This collaboration aims to update training programs in line with a forward-looking vision aligned with the new basic law for the education sector.
Finally, in the Sakhra neighborhood, Dr. Saadaoui laid the foundation stone for a new elementary school named after martyr Bouchama Ben Ali, reinforcing the government’s ongoing commitment to expanding access to quality education and fostering a generation of well-prepared, capable students.
This series of inaugurations and inspections underscores Algeria’s strategic focus on developing educational infrastructure and human capital to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving academic and social landscape.
