The National Committee for Community and Foreign Schools convened its thirteenth meeting on Tuesday at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation headquarters in Benghazi, under the leadership of Dr. Abdul Ghani Hassan Al-Aribi.
During the session, the committee reviewed the minutes of its twelfth meeting and assessed progress on measures implemented in previous sessions, with particular attention to the granting of operating permits for schools.
Dr. Al-Aribi emphasized the necessity for educational institutions to complete all legal requirements to ensure they are fully prepared for the 2025-2026 academic year.
“Educational institutions must obtain operating permits and fulfil all legal documentation requirements to guarantee readiness for the upcoming academic year,” he stated, underscoring the ministry’s commitment to compliance and quality standards.
The meeting also examined monitoring mechanisms for foreign and community schools, aiming to strengthen oversight and ensure alignment with national legislation.
Committee members stressed that the consistent application of approved standards is crucial to maintaining the quality of education for both local and expatriate communities.
This initiative forms part of the ministry’s broader strategy to regulate and develop the educational landscape for foreign communities in Libya.
Officials highlighted that structured oversight and adherence to national standards are essential to fostering a safe, high-quality, and legally compliant educational environment.
Through these measures, the committee seeks to safeguard educational integrity while enhancing the operational readiness of schools across the country.
The steps taken are expected to ensure that foreign and community schools contribute effectively to Libya’s national education system, promoting consistency, accountability, and long-term development.
As the academic year approaches, authorities reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining rigorous standards and comprehensive supervision, ensuring that all institutions provide reliable and quality education in accordance with Libyan law.
