Angola’s largest opposition party, UNITA, is set to present the organising committee for its XIV Ordinary Congress at a press conference on Wednesday, September 24.
According to a statement seen by Rádio Correio da Kianda, the Communication and Marketing Committee of the “Galo Negro” movement confirmed that the event will take place at the Sovsmo Complex in Luanda at 10:00 local time.
The press conference will officially introduce the team tasked with coordinating the congress, which is scheduled to run from 28 to 30 November. Party officials noted that the session will also be used to unveil the full programme of activities leading up to the gathering.
UNITA’s Ordinary Congress serves as one of the party’s most significant political events, offering a platform to debate strategy, set priorities, and consolidate leadership structures. The announcement comes at a time when the party continues to position itself as a key voice in Angola’s political landscape, with the November congress expected to attract wide attention from members, observers, and the broader public.
Party representatives highlighted that the congress will be crucial in shaping UNITA’s political direction for the years ahead. Delegates are expected to discuss organisational reforms, future electoral strategies, and broader national issues affecting Angola’s social and economic development.
By formally presenting the organising committee, UNITA aims to demonstrate transparency in its internal processes while reinforcing its readiness for a landmark congress in November.
