Prime Minister Robert Beugré Mambé has called for the promotion of peace through the arts during the opening of the 8th edition of the National Week of Culture and Arts (SNAC) on Friday, 19 September 2025, at the municipal ground of Songon Dagbé.
Speaking under his high patronage, Mr. Mambé stressed that cultural expression is inseparable from peace.
“That is why this meeting today in Songon is an opportunity for us to seize to serve peace for Ivorians,” he said, urging artists, as guardians of collective memory, to remain “men and women of peace.”
The Prime Minister paid tribute to the pioneers of Ivorian culture, celebrating both the young and the experienced whose creativity he described as the intellectual genius of the nation, expressed through voice, art, and thought.
Mr. Mambé also commended the Minister of Culture and Francophonie, Françoise Remarck, for her committed and effective efforts in advancing the cultural sector. He highlighted that Côte d’Ivoire remains a country of fraternity and hospitality, where culture serves as a key vector of social cohesion and international influence.
Minister Remarck expressed gratitude to Head of State Alassane Ouattara and the government for their continued support of the cultural sector.
She highlighted the integration of culture into the National Development Plan (NDP), the creation of a one-billion CFA franc fund for cinema to support artists—thanks to the Minister for Youth Promotion, Professional Integration and Civic Service, Mamadou Touré—and the increase in copyright collection benefiting creators.
The ceremony, held under the theme “Arts and culture: consolidating our multicultural identity for social cohesion and lasting peace,” was co-patroned by the Mediator of the Republic, Adama Toungara, and the President of the National Chamber of Kings and Traditional Chiefs of Côte d’Ivoire, Awoulae Amon Tanoe. Cultural actors and other notable personalities also attended.
Launched in 2014, SNAC has become the leading platform for promoting Ivorian cultural values.
The annual event rotates across the country, showcasing initiatives that celebrate cultural heritage while providing the Cultural and Creative Industries (CCI) an opportunity to present their products and services to a wide audience, reinforcing national unity and social cohesion.
