The Egyptian Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade has launched the online activation link for the 2025 ration card, aiming to ensure uninterrupted access to food subsidies for eligible citizens.
The ministry confirmed that the update process allows cardholders to register their mobile numbers and correct any inaccurate information, guaranteeing that subsidies reach those entitled to them.
Al-Usbuu, a local service platform, is providing step-by-step guidance on registering for the “Digital Egypt Initiative,” supporting citizens across various online services.
The Ministry of Supply clarified that updating the ration card is straightforward and can be done through the Egypt Support website or the Digital Egypt Portal. The steps include:
-
Logging in to the official platform via Egypt Support or the Digital Egypt Portal.
-
Entering the 12-digit ration card number.
-
Providing the national ID number of the head of the household registered on the card.
-
Entering the mobile phone number registered in the name of the head of household with the telecom provider.
-
Confirming the information and agreeing to the terms before submitting the request.
Once the update is reviewed, the applicant receives a confirmation text message verifying the successful completion of the process.
Citizens can also inquire about their ration card status via the Egypt Support website or by calling the Ministry of Supply hotline at 19959. Information available includes the card’s status (valid, suspended, or requiring an update), the number of individuals registered, the food rations allocated per person, and reasons for non-activation.
Common reasons for a ration card not being activated include failure to update the card and register the correct phone number, incorrect data, expired cards that have not been renewed, or incomplete procedures for issuing a new card after loss or damage. In such cases, the ministry advises citizens to visit the nearest supply office to resolve the issues.
This online activation initiative forms part of Egypt’s broader push towards digital government services, improving efficiency and accessibility for citizens relying on essential subsidies.
