
The Swiss Embassy in Algeria hosted the “Swiss Innovation Night” on Sunday evening, bringing together innovators, business leaders, and policymakers to strengthen economic and technological ties between Switzerland and Algeria.
The event coincided with the Intra-African Trade Fair 2025, highlighting the potential for mutually beneficial cooperation.
The evening was chaired by Ivo Gehrmann, Swiss Deputy Secretary of State for Economic Affairs, who stressed the strategic importance of collaboration in innovation and sustainable technology.
“This initiative highlights opportunities for cooperation between our countries, particularly in areas that combine economic growth with sustainability and technological advancement,” he said.
Four leading Swiss companies presented their innovative solutions, reflecting the diversity and strength of Switzerland’s industrial and technological sectors.
Holcim showcased advances in sustainability and eco-friendly construction materials. Roche presented cutting-edge healthcare technologies, while Syngenta highlighted agrochemical innovations to support modern agriculture.
Bühler focused on solutions to enhance food security and production efficiency.
The event underscored Switzerland’s commitment to fostering innovation-driven partnerships with Algeria.
It offered a platform for Algerian and Swiss business leaders to explore joint ventures, investment opportunities, and knowledge exchange.
Participants highlighted the importance of innovation not only in economic development but also in addressing broader challenges such as environmental sustainability, food security, and public health.
“This evening demonstrates how innovation can serve as a bridge between our two nations,” noted a representative from Switzerland Global Enterprise.
