Jennifer Adams to become new U.S. ambassador to Cape Verde

Speaking to Inforpress, Daigle, reflecting on his five-year tenure, expressed his excitement about Adams’ arrival, believing she will infuse new energy into U.S.-Cape Verde relations, elevating them to new heights.

Adams, a seasoned member of the Senior Foreign Service at the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), will bring a wealth of networks, contacts, and programs to enhance the partnership between Cape Verde and the United States.

Describing Adams as a “wonderful and generous person,” Daigle also expressed hope that Cape Verdeans would welcome her and her husband as warmly as they did him and his spouse.

Assuming her role on July 11, Jennifer Adams will attend the Cabo Verde Investment Forum 2024 in Boston (CVIF2024 Boston) on Wednesday, July 3, organized by the Cape Verdean Association of Boston.

Currently, Adams serves as USAID’s representative at the National War College of the National Defense University in Washington, DC.

Her previous roles include Acting Assistant Administrator of USAID’s Bureau for Global Health in Washington, DC.

She also served as Mission Director at the U.S. Embassy in Mozambique, Acting Deputy Assistant Administrator, and Deputy Assistant Administrator for the Bureau for Global Health.

Over her three-decade career, Adams has held various positions, including Development Advisor at the U.S. Embassy in Beijing, China, Mission Director at the U.S. Embassy in Brasilia, Brazil, and Director of the Health and Education Office at USAID’s mission in Dakar, Senegal.

Jennifer Adams succeeds Jeff Daigle, who has served as the U.S. Ambassador to Cape Verde for five years, making him the longest-serving American diplomat in Cape Verde and the third-longest in the world.
