Senegal’s President Bassirou Diomaye Faye has called on French companies to increase their investment in the country, highlighting the nation’s economic ambitions and regulatory reforms during a speech at the French Business Movement in Paris.
Speaking at Roland Garros, President Faye urged businesses to “leave behind the weight of history” and embrace a new era of cooperation between Senegal and France. His address focused on the Senegal 2050 vision, a national strategy aimed at positioning the country competitively on the global stage.
During his two-day visit, President Faye also met with representatives of French companies operating in Senegal, reaffirming his commitment to placing the private sector at the centre of national economic growth.
He emphasized that ongoing reforms to the Investment Code, Customs Code, and General Tax Code were designed to simplify procedures, provide tax relief, and improve the overall business climate.
“The game is already underway,” President Faye said, referring to the Senegal 2050 strategy. “Decisions taken today will shape our country’s future in a competitive world.”
The President also stressed the importance of innovative partnerships in strategic sectors, including energy and infrastructure. He indicated that incentives for investors in these areas would be detailed in the forthcoming 2025–2029 five-year plan, integrated into the broader 2024–2035 master plan.
This visit followed earlier diplomatic meetings, including discussions with French President Emmanuel Macron, and precedes a scheduled visit by the Senegalese Prime Minister in September. President Faye highlighted that Senegal aims to position itself as a reliable international partner, capable of navigating global competition and trade tensions.
The trip marks a renewed phase in the economic dialogue between Dakar and Paris, signalling the country’s determination to attract investment and strengthen bilateral cooperation while advancing the Senegal 2050 vision.
