King Mohammed VI of Morocco has directed the dispatch of a new wave of humanitarian aid to Gaza, amid what officials describe as an unprecedented humanitarian crisis following the ongoing conflict.
The announcement was made in a statement released Monday by the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The shipment includes around 100 tons of essential food and medical supplies, prioritizing children and infants.
The King has emphasized that, as with previous deliveries, the aid will be sent by air to guarantee rapid and direct arrival in the besieged Palestinian territory.
Since October 2023, Morocco has consistently ramped up its support for Gaza, sending hundreds of tons of supplies through both land and air convoys.
Unlike some Arab nations that channel assistance through multilateral agencies, Morocco has opted for a direct approach, ensuring immediate relief for civilians while highlighting its commitment diplomatically.
As chairman of the Al-Quds Committee under the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Mohammed VI’s initiatives carry additional legitimacy, reinforcing Morocco’s dual strategy of hands-on humanitarian support and measured diplomacy.
Rabat continues to maintain dialogue with various regional actors, positioning itself as a constructive player amid complex geopolitics.
The Gaza crisis has exposed differing approaches across the Arab world. Gulf states such as Qatar and the United Arab Emirates focus on large-scale funding to UN agencies, while Egypt leverages its border with Rafah to facilitate logistics and political mediation.
Morocco’s hybrid model—direct aid combined with visible institutional communication—sets it apart, enhancing its influence and visibility on the regional stage.
Observers note that the King’s humanitarian initiative also serves a symbolic purpose. By reinforcing Morocco’s tangible support for Gaza, Mohammed VI underscores the Palestinian cause as central to the Kingdom’s agenda and signals a commitment to Arab and Islamic solidarity.
In addition to immediate relief, the operation strengthens Morocco’s standing with international partners, who view the Kingdom as a capable actor balancing direct action with moderate, credible diplomacy. For Moroccan and wider Arab public opinion, the aid shipment represents both a practical and moral statement of solidarity with those enduring extreme hardship in Gaza.
