Egypt has strongly condemned recent reports in Israeli media regarding discussions of a so-called “Greater Israel” plan, urging for immediate clarification and stressing its commitment to peace in the Middle East.
In a statement issued Wednesday evening, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the announcements as provocative and destabilizing.
“Such statements reflect a mindset that rejects peace and threaten regional stability,” the ministry said, emphasizing that they run counter to the aspirations of peace-loving nations and international actors.
The ministry highlighted that a sustainable solution in the region can only be achieved through renewed negotiations and an end to hostilities in Gaza.
“There is no path to peace other than a return to dialogue and the cessation of war in Gaza,” the statement added.
Egypt reaffirmed its support for the establishment of a Palestinian state based on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The country reiterated its commitment to the two-state solution and relevant international resolutions, noting that these frameworks remain the cornerstone for achieving lasting security and stability.
The statement comes amid heightened tensions in the region, with ongoing violence in Gaza and growing concerns over unilateral territorial claims.
Egyptian officials stressed that any attempts to alter borders or undermine Palestinian sovereignty would further inflame the conflict and derail prospects for peace.
Diplomatic observers note that Egypt continues to play a central mediating role between Israel, the Palestinians, and other regional actors, positioning itself as a key facilitator in efforts to achieve a negotiated settlement.
“The international community must work together to uphold international law, protect civilian lives, and ensure that any steps toward peace respect the legitimate rights of all parties,” the Egyptian Foreign Ministry added.
As discussions around territorial plans continue to attract global attention, Egypt has reaffirmed that its priority remains dialogue, stability, and the creation of conditions that allow Palestinians and Israelis to coexist in peace.
