Morocco’s tourism industry continues to show robust growth in 2025, with the country welcoming 11.6 million visitors by the end of July, marking a 16% increase compared to the same period in 2024.
Moroccans living abroad, known as MREs, accounted for more than half of these arrivals, underscoring their crucial role in sustaining the sector.
July alone recorded a record 2.7 million entries, up 6% from last year. Both foreign tourists and MREs contributed to this growth, reflecting Morocco’s broad appeal.
Coastal destinations such as Agadir and Tangier reported strong attendance, while cultural hubs including Marrakech and Fez thrived, buoyed by a rich calendar of summer events.
“This summer, the combination of heritage, geographic diversity, and improved infrastructure has made Morocco a compelling destination for travelers from all over the world,” industry officials noted.
The surge comes amid a global rebound in international tourism, driven by the easing of travel restrictions and enhanced air connectivity.
Morocco’s offerings, blending scenic landscapes, historical richness, and modern amenities, position it as one of the Mediterranean’s premier destinations. Analysts remain optimistic for the peak season, citing increased bookings across major platforms and growing interest in off-season stays.
With these results, Morocco is approaching its annual tourism targets, reinforcing a sector that remains a vital pillar of the national economy. The performance not only reflects the country’s resilience but also its competitiveness in the regional tourism landscape.
“This sustained momentum highlights the strategic importance of Moroccan tourism, both for economic growth and for promoting cultural exchange,” experts said.
As Morocco continues to attract both leisure travelers and cultural enthusiasts, the outlook for the remainder of 2025 appears promising, with industry stakeholders hopeful that the positive trend will carry through into the autumn months, further solidifying the kingdom’s position on the international tourism map.
